starting a new adventure

I am entering a new adventure in my career. I am starting work in the emergency room of a local trauma center. This is a new adventure for me because, for greater than 10 years I have been working in med- surg/ telemetry nursing. First, let me say that I am not a surgical nurse. You are not going to find me in the OR. I have resigned myself to the fact that everyone looks the same on the inside and God created it that way for a reason. I am not into blood, dressings, and surprises under those lovely presents that our patients today present with. Over the past 10 or so years I have ventured outside of the comfort zones and can now do those dressing changes without feeling how hard the floor is first.
As part of my new ventures, I will be almost assured of seeing the blood and gore that has haunted me in my career. I have been on the job for less than a week and have already witnessed, missing fingers due to a work accident and a freak occurence that you would see only on "ER" or "Grey's Anatomy", not your local trauma center.
